MUSIC NOTATION
Greeks invented a notation system for music, and nowadays it has evolved. We use five lines and a wide range of musical notes.
- STAVE: a set of five parallel lines on any one or between any adjacent two of which a note is written to indicate its pitch.
- TREBLE CLEF: we use Clefs to tell us which notes correspond to which lines or spaces. The most popular clef is the treble clef. And it indicates that the "SOL" note corresponds to the second line of the stave.
BASS CLEF: Thebass clef, or F clef, is used for the lower sounding notes.
BREATH MARK: A breath mark or luftpause is a symbol used in musical notation. It directs the performer of the music passage to take a breath.
ADDITIONAL LINES: are lines used to notate pitches above or below thelines and spaces of the regular musical staff
